Jurnal Esensi Hukum applies a structured peer review process to every manuscript considered for publication, to ensure the scholarly quality, originality, and validity of published articles.

1. Initial Editorial Screening

Every manuscript submitted to the journal is first checked by the editorial team for conformity with the journal's Focus and Scope and Author Guidelines, and for completeness of the required submission files. The manuscript is also screened for originality using Turnitin, in accordance with the journal's Plagiarism Policy. A manuscript that does not meet these initial requirements may be returned to the author before being forwarded for peer review.

2. Assignment of Peer Reviewers

Manuscripts that pass initial screening are assigned to at least two peer reviewers with relevant expertise in the manuscript's field of law. The journal applies a double-blind review process, in which the identities of the authors and reviewers are concealed from one another throughout the review.

3. Review and Recommendation

Peer reviewers evaluate the manuscript's originality, methodology, legal argumentation, and contribution to the field, and provide written comments and a recommendation to the editor, which may be to accept, request minor revision, request major revision, or reject the manuscript.

4. Revision by Author

Manuscripts requiring revision are returned to the corresponding author together with the reviewers' comments. The author is expected to address all comments and resubmit the revised manuscript within the timeframe communicated by the editor. The editor may return a revised manuscript to the original reviewers for further evaluation if necessary.

5. Editorial Decision

The final decision to accept, revise, or reject a manuscript rests with the Editor-in-Chief, based on the peer reviewers' recommendations and the manuscript's overall conformity with the journal's standards. This decision is communicated to the corresponding author through the journal's online submission system (OJS).

This peer review process is conducted in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement and follows the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
